The scary accident took place this evening when fourteen coaches of Puri-Haridwar Utkal Express derailed near Khatauli a district of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. The report says, one coach climbed up on another. The train was in transit from Puri in Odisha to Haridwar in Uttarakhand. As informed by Anil Kumar Saxena, Additional Director-General Law and order (Muzaffarnagar) ” Fourteen coaches of the train have derailed, there could be injuries in this”. Further, it has also been confirmed that 11Passengers killed and 60 injured badly in this accident.
The track repair work was underway and supposed to be accountable for this disaster, ANI UP confirmed this. All the injured and deceased passengers sent to Haridwar by road. In the interim, Railway Minister Mr. Suresh Prabhu has ordered an inquiry against the calamity. He also announced ex-Gratia of Rs. 3.5 Lakh for the clan of the departed, Rs. 50,000 for the seriously injured and Rs. 25,000 for those with insignificant injuries. Odisha CM also announces ex-Gratia of Rs. 5 Lakh for the clan of deceased and Rs. 50,000 for injured.
A Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has also left to examine the reasons for the crash at Khatauli derailment of the train. Two UP ministers and rescue operation squad also marched to Khatauli to aid the injured passengers immediately.
