This Indian Women’s Cricket team never ceases to surprise us. As a very strong and commendable team, there have been different players who have rose to claim the limelight in every game. So we had Mithali Raj who led from the front in the starting matches, then we had Smriti Mandhana, Sushma Verma, Jhulan Goswami and now we have Harmanpreet Kaur who put India in a commanding total of 281/4 by smashing 171 not-out off just 115 balls against Australia in the ICC Women’s World Cup semi-final at Derby, England.

Harmanpreet Kaur hit 20 fours and 7 sixes in her innings and ensured that she gave Australian bowlers a run for their money. This was her 3rd ODI hundred and became the 5th highest run-scorer in women’s cricket. She also became the second highest run scorer for Indian Women’s Cricket after Deepti Sharma. So unsurprisingly she got accolades pouring from all sides on her unbeaten century. Virender Sehwag, Ravi Shastri, Harbhajan Singh all took to Twitter to praise the cricketer for her awesome knock.

“I didn’t get a chance to bat in the whole tournament, wanted to utilise that opportunity. Whatever I was thinking, I utilised. The plan was to watch the ball and hitting the ball. It was the heat of the moment, I said sorry to her. We’re fine now,” Harmanpreet said.

Harmanpreet Kaur is gradually creating a name for herself in the middle order and with her exceptional knock has now almost cemented her place in the team.

This is how Twitter reacted:

Harmanpreet forged a 137 run partnership with Deepti Sharma while an unbeaten 43-run stand between Kaur and Veda Krishnamurthy pushed India’s total to 281. Earlier she also shared a 66 runs partnership with captain Mithali Raj. She joins Belinda Clark, Deepti Sharma, Chamara Athapaththui, Charlotte Edwards to score more than 150 runs in an innings in ODI cricket.
