Just when the nation is angry, and Indians are crying their lungs out to get justice for little 8-year-old Asifa, another disgusting case of attempted rape and murder of a 5-year-old has come to light.
In Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, on April 4, a 19-year-old man allegedly killed his 5-year-old cousin after she resisted a rape attempt by him. The man who has been arrested by the police had allegedly taken the girl to an abandoned building where he attempted to rape her.
The 19-year-old man was taken into custody from his house in Das Bustee under Burmamines police station area yesterday evening, police said on Friday. He allegedly slit the throat of the girl with a knife after she resisted his move to rape her on April 4 in an abandoned building and dumped the body in a dustbin, Senior Superintendent of Police Anoop Birtheray told a press conference. After the killing, he returned and joined his relatives and local people in searching for the girl. During the investigation, the police found one person who had seen him coming out of the abandoned building at that time of the day.
During their investigation into the murder, the police found pieces of jewellery, including an amulet and two silver bangles, belonging to the victim. They also found the knife that the man had used to kill the girl, from the spot. The police picked up the man for questioning from his home in Burmamines, Jamshedpur, around 130 km from the state capital Ranchi. During the interrogation, he initially tried to mislead the officials, but later confessed to the crime according to the police official.
