1. Civil Services Exam- World’s Third Toughest Exam
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is the recruiting agency for Indian Government.. It selects the top level government officials such as IAS, IPS, IFS, IFoS, etc. The success rate is less than 1%.
2. IIT JEE
IIT JEE is the sole entrance exam conducted for admissions to India’s 22 IITs. From 2017, IITs started conducting JEE internationally to admit international students also.
3. Engineering Services Exam (ESE)
The UPSC conducts ESE for recruiting engineers to Indian Engineering Service (IES). These engineers would fulfil technical and managerial functions of the Central government.
The success rate is less than 1%.
Approximately 1,50,000 appear for ESE every year and not more than 500 are selected.
4. National Eligibility Test (NET)
NET is conducted by CBSE on behalf of UGC(University Grants Commission). It is conducted to recruit lecturers to colleges and universities in India.
Assistant Professors and Junior Research Fellows are recruited through NET.
The success rate is around 6%.
5. National Defence Academy – Naval Academy Exam(NDA Exam)
NDA is conducted by the UPSC. The candidates must have completed their 10+2 school education.
The selected candidates will gain 3 years of education and training at the Academy and will be awarded Bachelors degree
This exam is very difficult to crack.
6. Common Law Admission Test (CLAT)
It is a centralised exam conducted for admissions to National Law Universities. It is conducted for admissions to Integrated UG programmes such as B.A. and LL.M /and LL.M and for Post Graduation in law.
7. Common Admission Test (CAT)
The CAT exam is conducted for admissions to management and business courses at IIMs.
8. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
GATE is conducted for admissions to Post Graduate (M.E, M.Tech) and Doctor in Philosophy(Ph.D.) in IITs and IISc. The score is also used for employment in various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
The success rate is just 16%.
9. National Eligibility and Entrance Test(NEET)
NEET is an entrance exam conducted for admissions to Medical Courses at both UG level (NEET UG ) and PG level(NEET PG).
The UG courses include both MBBS and BDS.

10. Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT)
Pilot Aptitude Battery Test also called PABT is conducted for the candidates who aspire to join flying branch of Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, Indian Army and Coast Guard of Indian Armed Forces. Pilot Aptitude Battery Test is aimed at assessing a candidate’s aptitude to be trained as a pilot.
